Most houseplants don't die of neglect. They die of enthusiasm — too much water, too little light, and a pot with nowhere for either to go. Everything we stock is chosen to remove one of those three failures, and nothing is here because it photographs well on a shelf.
Seed comes from two family farms in Michigan and is packed in lots we can trace. Soil is peat-free, because peat bogs take a few thousand years to grow back and a tomato takes ninety days. Lights are measured, not marketed: if a fixture claims full spectrum, we own a meter and we've pointed it at the thing.
Tested first
Every kit is grown start to finish by someone here before it goes in the catalog.
Repairable
Bulbs, wicks, liners and gaskets are sold separately. Nothing should die because a $4 part did.
Plain about it
If a plant needs more light than your room has, the listing says so before you buy.

If it doesn't sprout in 30 days, we send a new one.
No photo of the sad soil required, no receipt hunt. Write to us with the lot number on the seed packet and a replacement goes out the same week. It happens on about one order in forty, and we'd rather know.
